The Mandalika, March 8, 2026 – The atmosphere leading up to iftar at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit was filled with automotive excitement through the Ngabubu-Drift activity held on Sunday (March 8, 2026). The event featured a drifting practice session by the Lombok Drift Community, turning the paddock area behind the circuit into a training ground for local drifters while people gathered to wait for the time to break the fast.
A total of 15 drifters participated in the session. The activity also attracted strong public interest, with around 50 visitor vehicles arriving at the circuit area and more than 100 spectators gathering to watch the drifting action.
Interestingly, the event also drew attention from international visitors. Tourists from South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Spain came to witness the drifting practice at Mandalika Circuit. Some of them even had the opportunity to experience taxi drift, sitting in the passenger seat while a drifter performed drifting maneuvers on the track.
Kim, a visitor from South Korea who experienced the taxi drift, shared his excitement after the ride.
“Today I experienced taxi drift, it was fantastic, first time in my life. Thank you very much, come to Mandalika, visit Lombok, visit Mandalika,” he said.
A similar impression was expressed by Alex Moreno from Spain, who also experienced a drift car ride for the first time.
“This is my first time inside of a drift car. This is so crazy, crazy, so much appreciate it,” said Alex Moreno after enjoying the drifting experience.
The event also gained attention from regional law enforcement. Deputy Chief of Police of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Brigjen Pol. Hari Nugroho, S.I.K, attended the activity and observed the drifting session firsthand.
According to him, activities like this are positive because they provide a proper space for drifting enthusiasts to practice safely.
“Events like this are very positive because drifters have a dedicated area to practice, so they do not need to do it on public roads which could endanger others. Hopefully more people will come here to train and eventually achieve achievements in the future,” he said.
One of the local Lombok drifters, Firman, also expressed his appreciation to the management of Mandalika Circuit for providing a space for the drifting community to practice.
“I have been practicing here with Om Denny for almost three years. From starting alone until now we have grown into a bigger group. We are very grateful to MGPA for providing a place for us to practice. It is a blessing to train at such a beautiful circuit. In other places it is rare to find facilities like this,” said Firman.
Denny Pribadi, Motorsport Manager of MGPA, explained that activities like NgabubuDrift provide an opportunity for the drifting community to stay active while promoting positive automotive activities during the month of Ramadan.
“We provide space for the Lombok drifting community to practice safely and properly at Mandalika Circuit. Hopefully activities like this can become a platform for development and strengthen the automotive ecosystem in NTB,” said Denny.
Meanwhile, Priandhi Satria, President Director of PT Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), the company appointed to manage the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit by InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), emphasized that Mandalika is not only a venue for international racing events but also a place where communities can gather and grow.
“We want Mandalika Circuit to be utilized for positive activities by automotive communities. By providing a proper space like this, drifters can develop their skills safely while helping build a healthy automotive ecosystem,” said Priandhi Satria.
Through NgabubuDrift, Mandalika Circuit once again shows its role not only as a world-class racing venue but also as a gathering place for automotive communities and visitors in Lombok. (MGPA)

Ngabubu-Drift Mandalika: Wisatawan Mancanegara Ikut Rasakan Taxi Drift Jelang Berbuka
“Today I have drift day, I have taxi drift, it was fantastic, first time in my life. Thank you very much, come to Mandalika, visit Lombok, visit Mandalika,” ujarnya.
“This is my first time with drift car. This crazy, crazy, so appreciate it,” ungkap Alex Moreno setelah merasakan sensasi drifting di Mandalika.
(MGPA)
