The Mandalika, March 3, 2026 – A total of 48 students accompanied by four teachers from SMA Kristen Calvin conducted an educational visit to the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The activity was part of a field learning program aimed at giving students a closer look at the world of motorsport as well as the operational management of an international-standard racing circuit.
Getting to Know Race Control
The group’s first agenda was visiting the Race Control room, the command center for all racing activities on the track. From this room, every movement of the vehicles is monitored through dozens of screens and an integrated communication system.
The students received an explanation about the role of the Race Director, safety monitoring systems, incident handling procedures, and coordination with marshals positioned at every corner of the circuit. The session gave participants insight into how complex and precise the management of an international racing event can be.
Learning Directly in the Pit Lane, Discovering the F4 Car
The visit continued to the pit lane area, where racing teams prepare their cars before going out on track. Here, the students had the opportunity to see a Formula 4 (F4) car up close.
They received a special briefing from Michael Indradjaja, widely known as Om Michael. During the session, he explained the characteristics of an F4 car, including engine specifications, aerodynamics, safety systems, and the preparation stages before a race.
The interaction was lively and filled with enthusiasm. Students actively asked questions about the world of racing, career opportunities in the motorsport industry, and the technologies used in vehicle development.
Experiencing the Circuit Atmosphere
As the closing activity, the group was invited to ride on a trailer to explore part of the circuit track. The moment became an unforgettable experience, allowing students to feel the atmosphere of a circuit that regularly hosts international racing events.
The group later stopped at Turn 10 (T10), one of the circuit’s iconic spots, for a group photo session. With the track asphalt and the distinctive Mandalika scenery as the backdrop, the moment became a meaningful memory and a symbol of young people’s spirit to keep learning and dreaming big.
